Meet the first Gen Z member of Colorado's legislature DENVER (KDVR) — North Denver will have a new state representative come next session. Tim Hernández was selected by a vacancy committee this weekend to fill the seat left empty by Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez, now a newly minted Denver City Council member. Denver approves $4.7M settlement with 2020 protesters Hernández, 26, will be the first lawmaker from Generation Z to serve the state of Colorado. Authorities investigate after cyclist hit by vehicle in Newton An investigation got underway in Newton Monday after a serious crash involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist, police said. Newton police in a statement on social media said officers first responded to the scene near the intersection of Watertown Street and Bridge Street around 5:30 p.m. A portion of Watertown Street was closed after the crash and remained closed as of around 7:15 p.m. as state and local authorities continued their investigation. Watertown Street had reopened by 9 p.m., though police remained on scene.No further information was immediately available.This is a developing story; stay with 7NEWS on-air and online for the latest updates.

One person dead after multi-car crash on I-95 in North Attleboro A 58-year-old Foxboro man died and another person was seriously injured Monday in a multi-car crash in North Attleboro, state police said. The crash happened on I-95, starting on the southbound side of the highway when police said Buick and a Cadillac vehicle collided near Exit 7. Police said the driver of the Cadillac, a 61-year-old Providence man, lost control of his car and crossed the median before colliding with a Jaguar vehicle on I-95 north. The driver of the Jaguar was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver of the Cadillac was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Buick, police said, fled the scene.State police said troopers responded to the area around 4:15 p.m. and spoke with witnesses who described the fleeing Buick. One person dead after industrial accident in Boxboro One person died Monday and an investigation got underway after an industrial accident at a recycling center in Boxboro, police said. Boxboro police said an initial call came in around 2 p.m. reporting the accident at Roof Top Recycling in town, where police said a person was crushed by machinery. Police said the injured person was airlifted to UMass Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead.The incident remained under investigation as of Monday afternoon by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Boxboro police, Massachusetts State Police and the state Division of Occupational Licensure.

Newspaper group publisher G. Ogden Nutting has died at 87 WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) — G. Ogden Nutting, who helped grow his family’s newspaper business to more than 50 daily publications in 18 states, has died. He was 87.Nutting died Friday, according to The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register, which published his obituary and a separate story on his death Monday.A Wheeling resident, Nutting was the longtime publisher of Ogden Newspapers Inc. and spent more than 60 years in various roles with the private company. His grandfather, H.C. Ogden, founded The Wheeling Evening News in 1890, and it formed the basis of the newspaper chain.Nutting joined Pittsburgh Pirates team owner Kevin McClatchy’s ownership group in 1996. US Marines killed in Australian aircraft crash were from Illinois, Virginia and Colorado CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — The three U.S. Marines killed in a tiltrotor aircraft crash during a training exercise in Australia were from Illinois, Virginia and Colorado and another Marine was in critical condition, the Marine Corps said Tuesday.The Marine V-22B Osprey with 23 Marines on board crashed Sunday in tropical forest on Melville Island while taking part in Exercise Predators Run, a drill that includes the militaries of Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and East Timor.All 20 survivors were injured and were flown by rescue aircraft 80 kilometers (50 miles) south to the city of Darwin within hours of the crash. Woman charged with murder in fatal Moss Park altercation Toronto police say a 27-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman seriously injured in an altercation in the Moss Park area later died in hospital. Police were called to the Shuter and Sherbourne streets area at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 for unknown trouble. Investigators say two women had an altercation that resulted in one of them suffering serious injuries. It’s not clear exactly how she was injured.The woman was rushed to hospital where died on Friday, August 25. The victim has since been identified as Fadumo Hassan, 29. Mireille Pardieu, 27, is facing a single count of second degree murder.
