Christmas morning fire in San Leandro apartment building displaces three people

ALAMEDA COUNTY — Two elderly residents and a neighbor were displaced by a fire that broke out on the first floor of a San Leandro apartment building on Christmas morning, authorities said.The fire was reported around 6 a.m. Sunday inside the complex at 14550 East 14th Street, Alameda County Fire Department officials wrote on social media. It spread into the building’s center hallway.As of 7:15 a.m., the blaze had been contained. No one was injured.The American Red Cross has been dispatched to help the victims of the fire, according to county fire officials.The Alameda County Fire Department responded to a fire that broke out early on Christmas Day. Salvation Army holds its Christmas meal program

(KRON) – The Salvation Army hosted its annual Christmas meal delivery program for hundreds of San Francisco residents. The Salvation Army provides a hot meal and holiday cheer for those who may not be able to leave their home because of age or illness. ‘Ebony Alerts’ debut in January to draw attention to missing women and children of color Hundreds of volunteers assisted in this program. The meals were put together by recent graduates hired from the Salvation Army Culinary Academy. This year's traditional Christmas meal includes turkey breast, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh roasted vegetables, juice, and dessert.Volunteers say this event is all about spreading joy.

1 driver seriously injured after 4 crashes along I-295, DC officials say

D.C. officials responded to a string of Christmas morning accidents along a stretch of Interstate 295.D.C. Fire and EMS and the D.C. Department of Transportation told WTOP that four separate car crashes happened between 11:40 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 1 a.m. on Christmas Day.The first two minor crashes happened in the northbound lanes at 11:40 p.m., according to officials.At around midnight, as DDOT was on the scene clearing those crashes, another collision happened, flipping a vehicle in the southbound lanes upside down and pinning a man underneath the car.Traffic was snarled waiting for EMTs to free the trapped driver when first responders reported a fourth crash along the same stretch of I-295 between Eastern Avenue and Burroughs Avenue Northeast.Officials said a man driving the car that overturned had to be removed using extraction equipment and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. 1 dead after Christmas morning fire in Centreville, firefighters say

One person is dead after an early morning fire in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Monday.Firefighters were called around 5:30 a.m. to a townhouse on Red River Drive in Centreville, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.The department said they found one person dead when they arrived at the home.Units are on scene of a townhouse fire in the 14100 blk of Red River Dr in the Centreville area. Crews arrived with smoke and fire showing from the home. The fire is under control. Crews located one deceased civilian.
