Woman Pronounced Dead and Several Injured After Head-On Collision near Jones BoulevardLAS VEGAS, NV (April 27, 2023) – On Tuesday afternoon, Mirta Curbelo lost her life in a multi-car crash on Desert Inn Road.The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near Jones Boulevard. Per reports, multiple vehicles were involved in the deadly accident.A 2005 Nissan Titan driver traveling westbound in the second of three travel lanes on the way to Desert Inn when for unknown reasons tried to change lanes and lost control of the car.As a result, the Nissan collided with the back of a Honda Civic, resulting in a series of collisions at the intersection. The Nissan then kept going southwest, crossing the Desert Inn center median. A Tesla then swerved to avoid a collision but also collided with the median. The “Big Melt” has begun.As the gargantuan Sierra snowpack gets heated up by warmer temperatures this week, many of the Golden State’s major waterways are expected to see a surge in flow from the melting snow — though major floods still seem a ways off for now. The only rivers forecast to exceed flood stage in the next four days are the Merced River near Yosemite Valley, which will close down parts of the national park, and the West Fork Carson River in Alpine County.The map below shows the two locations where minor flooding is forecast. Those spots are symbolized by yellow dots.
