2 Northeast DC teens arrested, charged in armed carjacking

Two teenagers were arrested and charged in an armed carjacking that happened in Northwest D.C. on Monday.Police said that the two 14-year-old boys, of Northeast D.C., stole a vehicle in the 6900 block of 4th Street shortly before 11:30 a.m.The suspects approached the victim, who was inside the vehicle. One of the boys brandished a handgun and demanded the victim get out of the vehicle, police said.The teenagers got into the vehicle and drove away but were apprehended by police.Police said the vehicle and a BB gun were recovered.Both boys are charged with armed carjacking and an unauthorized use of a vehicle. One of the teenagers was charged with possession of a BB gun in public space, police said.Source

DENVER (KDVR) -- A total of 10 people, including one suspect, were shot early Tuesday morning as celebrations of the Denver Nuggets NBA championship win took place in Denver's LoDo neighborhood.According to Denver Police Commander Matthew Clark, this appears to be related to a drug deal that was taking place in the same area as the shooting. Police in Worcester say three suspects were charged after a fight allegedly broke out on a baseball field as well as a subsequent attempted assault. Cape Cod great white shark researchers this summer will be using drones to spot the apex predators off beaches, as the scientists look at whether the technology is effective for shark surveillance off the Cape.This comes after a high-profile drone shark study out of California — finding that juvenile white sharks were close to people on 97% of the days surveyed, and no one was bitten during the 2-year drone study.Along the Cape, scientists last summer started to use drones in a pilot study.“When water conditions are clear and nice, this is an incredible tool to study sharks and their activities off of our beaches,” Atlantic White Shark Conservancy staff scientist Megan Winton said during the conservancy’s media day on Tuesday.“One thing we want to do is get an idea of how they’re using the nearshore waters right off our beaches with these direct observations,” Winton added of the great whites.This summer, the researchers will be trying to fi...
