Chile won the occasion.Chile’s debut at the Rugby World Cup went better than anyone expected even though it lost to Japan 42-12 on Sunday.Los Condores were willing and able and gave Japan, a quarterfinalist at the last World Cup, a hard time in an entertaining match. Motorcyclist dies after fatal accident in Miami

Police responded to a deadly motorcycle accident overnight in Miami.The crash happened along Northwest 27th Avenue and Southwest 8th Street around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. Kiwanis of Little Havana, Marlins Foundation host school supply distribution for young athletes in Cutler Bay

Members of the South Florida community teamed up to give young athletes the tools they need to succeed.The Kiwanis of Little Havana and the Miami Marlins Foundation got some help from local organizations and leaders to collect and distribute school supplies.More than 600 baseball and softball players picked up their supplies at Franjo Park in Cutler Bay, Saturday.Billy the Marlin was on hand to greet the children.

New restaurant in Stow floods, postpones grand opening after severe thunderstorms

(AP) — Authorities say an escaped murderer who has eluded capture since breaking out of a southeastern Pennsylvania prison a week and a half ago has apparently slipped out of the search area, changed his appearance and is now being sought in a stolen vehicle.Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement on Sunday that Danelo Souza Cavalcante was seen overnight near Phoenixville in northern Chester County, more than 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of the area that until now has been the focus of the search.Cavalcante is now clean-shaven and wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, green prison pants and white shoes, police said. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Delta Air Lines has learned that summer is a good time to prepare for winter — and how to de-ice planes so they can keep flying safely in freezing temperatures.Every summer, Delta brings about 400 workers to Minneapolis to a three-day summer de-ice “boot camp.” They go through computer-based training, watch demonstrations by instructors, and then practice spraying down a plane — using water instead of the chemicals found in de-icing fluid.The boot campers, who rotate through in groups of 10 or so, return to their home bases and train 6,000 co-workers before October, says Jeannine Ashworth, vice president of airport operations for the Atlanta-based airline.Here’s how the de-icing process works: Big trucks with tanks of deicing mixture pull up alongside a plane, and an operator in a bucket at the top of a long boom sprays hot fluid that melts ice but doesn’t refreeze because of the chemicals it contains, mainly propylene glycol.It takes anywhere fr...

SIU investigating after man, 19, dies in Niagara Falls

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into the circumstances of the death of a 19-year-old man who jumped into the Niagara Falls Gorge.Ontario’s police watchdog said Niagara Parks Police officers were attempting to look for a man in distress around 7 p.m. on Saturday. They located the 19-year-old in the River Road and Hiram Street area.The SIU reported the man jumped over the barrier and fell into the Niagara Gorge. His body was found a short time later.The SIU said one subject official and three witness officials have been designated.Authorities are urging members of the public with information to come forward.The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
