A Florida couple faces dozens of charges for allegedly partaking in "a brutal pattern of child neglect, abuse and torture" against children in their home, detectives said.The Volusia Sheriff's Office said the situation began when Taylor B. Schaefer, 28, called deputies after getting a "gut feeling" that her boyfriend, 32-year-old Shawn M. Motorcyclist dead after losing control on rural Brentwood road

CLAYTON — A motorcyclist crashed after skidding off a rural road and died late Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said.The crash happened about 9:05 p.m. on eastbound Marsh Creek Road in an unincorporated part of the city, according to a statement from CHP Officer Adam Lane. Authorities did not identify the person early Monday, pending notification of relatives.According to Lane, the motorcycle was near the Three Springs Staging Area on Marsh Creek Road when it failed to make a turn in the roadway. The motorcycle toppled over and hit the dirt embankment, throwing the driver from his seat.He was pronounced dead at the scene.The CHP is looking for witnesses to the crash as they continue to investigate, Lane said. Maine is the only state in the U.S. where the blueberries are harvested commercially.The 2022 harvest of the blueberries fell a little more than 25% to 77.5 million pounds, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That was still a relatively strong year, and the third-most since 2017, according to state records.The wild blueberries are harvested from late July to early September.
