Motorcycle vs. SUV Collision near Northern Avenue Left a 38-Year-Old Man DeadPHOENIX, AZ (June 30, 2023) – Early Friday morning, a motorcycle collision near 27th Avenue claimed the life of Charles Hansen.The incident occurred on June 2nd, just before 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of 27th Avenue and Northern Avenue.According to the Phoenix police, motorcyclist Charles Hansen, and an SUV driven by a woman were involved in the collision. Reports state that Hansen was headed east on Northern Avenue at high speeds when the SUV made a turn in front of him.The impact of the collision ejected Hansen from his motorcycle and caused the SUV to be overturned. Both Hansen and the woman driving the SUV sustained injuries.Emergency crews pronounced 38-year-old Charles Hansen dead at the scene. Meanwhile, first responders extricated the woman and transported her to a local hospital for treatment. The San Jose Sharks confirmed they’re keeping a pair of players they acquired within the past year by re-signing goalie Eetu Makiniemi and left wing Jacob Peterson during a flurry of moves the team announced Friday.While Makiniemi and Peterson earned new contracts that staved off free agency, the Sharks chose not to issue qualifying offers to five players, including forward Noah Gregor and goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, making them all unrestricted free agents. Neither forwards Jonah Gadjovich and Evgeny Svechnikov nor goalie Strauss Mann were tendered contract offers.Blackwood, who was traded to the Sharks earlier this week, could also have a new deal soon, though. Even with perfect grades, valedictory status and several passion projects, the Ivy Leagues didn’t see my value.I come from a humble, middle-class family, with many relatives who have worked in the agricultural fields of the Salinas Valley, but my family is not a legacy in any of the colleges to which I applied. Scott Wiener to address this problem by raising bridge tolls even further is not good public policy. Residents of Solano County, the poorest county in the Bay Area, are required to cross a toll bridge to connect to the rest of the Bay Area. Some have to do so twice daily. NCAA committee considers increasing transition cost to FBS from $5,000 to $5 million

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Football Championship Subdivision schools soon could be paying more — a lot more — to move to the NCAA’s top level of competition.The Division I Council is considering a proposal that would increase the transition fee from $5,000 to $5 million, effective upon approval of the measure. All Football Bowl Subdivision schools also would be required to provide 90% of the allowable scholarships in 16 sports, including football, over a rolling two-year period.The measure also calls on FBS schools to offer at least 210 scholarships per year at a price tag no lower than $6 million.If approved, the new rules would take effect Aug. 1, 2027, for current FBS members and FCS schools applying to make the move by 2024-25.
