(The Hill) - After three years, the student loan payment pause is officially ending for 40 million borrowers.The cycle of extensions for the payment pause, which began under then-President Trump during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, finally met its end under the bipartisan debt ceiling agreement negotiated by President Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). Biden signed the measure on Saturday. The pause will now end 60 days after June 30, giving borrowers nearly three months to prepare. Here is what borrowers should begin to do:Confirm your student loan servicer and the amount owedIt has been a long time since some users checked on their student loan accounts, while many graduated during the pandemic and are logging in for the first time. Borrowers can log in to the Federal Student Aid website to check on which servicer holds their loans. Even if users were paying loans before the pause, it is important to check because some servicers dropped their federal c...

ROCHEPORT, Mo. (WDAF) -- Beer and cattle contributed to the frustration as crews spent hours trying to clear a crash Tuesday on the Missouri River Bridge west of Columbia, Missouri.The crash, involving a loaded cattle trailer, a pickup, and at least four other vehicles, forced emergency crews to close the westbound lanes of Interstate 70. Eastbound traffic was down to one lane as emergency responders helped clear the crash.The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened before 11 a.m. Tuesday, and took nearly five hours to clear. Gov. Greg Abbott signs bill addressing catalytic converter thefts

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill into law Tuesday afternoon that creates new criminal offenses surrounding the theft of catalytic converters. State Senator Carol Alvarado, D- Houston, filed Senate Bill 224 – known as the Deputy Darren Almendarez Act –  which was designed to address the spike in catalytic converter thefts across the state. Thefts of this kind have increased by 1,200% from 2019 to 2021, per the National Insurance Crime Bureau. AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Georgetown unveiled enhancements to its Bark Park off-leash dog park Tuesday -- including a new memorial dedicated to the pets killed in a September 2021 boarding facility fire.Georgetown's Bark Park is the city's first off-leash facility, featuring dog drinking fountains, benches and an agility course.
