Netflix releases most transparent data to date about viewership

New York (CNN) — In a major step in transparency, Netflix for the first time released on Tuesday a report of what people watched on the streaming service during a six-month period.The report, titled “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,” is set to be published twice a year, going forward, the company said in a memo.The report measures the hours viewed for every title, the premiere date and whether the title was available globally. The report only included titles that had more than 50,000 hours viewed.It’s among the most in-depth metrics Netflix has released about its subscriber engagement. As part of the Writers Guild of America contract ratified in October, streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+ pledged to increase transparency about how many hours certain programs are streamed.This report covers 18,000 titles, measuring views from January to June 2023. Police search for man caught on Ring camera stealing bike from Hollywood home

Police are searching for the person who was captured riding off with a stolen bicycle.A Ring video camera caught a man approaching a Hollywood home early Monday morning on his own bike.He’s seen getting off before he’s back on camera with another bike that he took from the front porch, then takes off with both.“He just got that bike, he was very excited to have that bike, and for it to be gone so quickly, you know,” said Kourtney Moncayo, whose son’s bike was stolen. “If anybody knows, or if he wants to bring it back, I won’t ask, don’t tell, I just want my son’s bike back.”It happened near North 25th Avenue and Thomas Street.Anyone with any information on this crime is urged to call police.

Aventura Police officer found guilty of false imprisonment, aggravated assault

A jury reached a decision Tuesday afternoon in the trial of an Aventura Police officer accused of robbing two men he believed stole from his wife.Officer David Delgado, 33, was found guilty of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of false imprisonment.Delgado was arrested after a complaint was filed by the two individuals regarding an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 20, at approximately 10:15 p.m.On Wednesday, Kenley LaFalaise, one of the alleged victims, did not mince words when asked to repeat what David Delgado, said to him on the day of the incident. At the time, Delgado’s wife was a valet driver at Aventura Mall. Prosecutors said she left her phone in LaFalaise’s car, and Delgado, in his police unit, tracked the phone to Pompano Beach.When he located LaFalaise, prosecutors said, Delgado pointed a gun at him and handcuffed him and his friend.Delgado was arrested a month after the incident and was suspended from the force. Pew survey: YouTube tops teens’ social-media diet, with roughly a sixth using it almost constantly

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Teen usage of social media hasn’t dropped much, despite rising concerns about its effects on the mental health of adolescents, a survey from the Pew Research Institute found.But the data also found that roughly one in six teens describe their use of two platforms — YouTube and TikTok — as “almost constant.”Seventy-one percent of teens said they visit YouTube at least daily; 16% described their usage as “almost constant” according to the survey. A slightly larger group — 17% — said they used TikTok almost constantly. Those figures for Snapchat and Instagram came in at 14% and 8% respectively.YouTube remains by far the most popular social platform among teens, with 93% responding that they use the service. Newly-obtained video shows the moment a chainsaw attack unfolded at a police station in Cohasset last year, showing a man entering the police station and cutting into a door. The incident happened on Dec. 18, 2022. New video, though, comes on the heels of a guilty plea in the case and shows the moment when local landscaper Brian Buckley initially drove his dump truck onto the police station’s front lawn. In video, Buckley is seen cutting up a cardboard box which had been delivered to an employee. Two men have been indicted for their alleged roles in a Dorchester shooting last summer that left five people, including two children, wounded.A Suffolk county grand jury on Tuesday indicted Gianni Williams-Johnson, 24, of Dorchester, and Micah Ennis, 24, of South Boston, on five counts of armed assault with intent to murder, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as single counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and unlawful possession of firearms.
