Dalby on Jacob Banks Dalby on Jacob Banks: Atlanta-based indie-pop artist Dalby told us about her Jacob Banks experience. Dalby: My favorite concert that I’ve ever been to has got to be Jacob Banks’s Lies About the War tour at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta. Jacob Banks is an artist that my dad and I have grown to love and listen to for the past six years or so. His voice is incredible and his songs are so full of hurt and love which really made my dad and I want to see him live. We bought tickets to his show before it was postponed to a much later date, which we were bummed about but we were excited to go when the time finally came. The show ended up being in October of 2022 and it was truly a surreal concert experience. Everybody was so kind and everybody was feeling the music on such a deep level. Jacob sounded even better than he does on recording, which is crazy to me, and his voice is so unique and soulful. The energy was immaculate and the band sounded great, and I think he is an artist that shou...

This weekend marks drag’s biggest gathering, a major music festival and the return of club legend Bryan Rabin’s much-missed Giorgio’s dance party. With the recent release of Spinning Gold (about Casablanca Records) and a new Donna Summer doc coming, this hot spot’s return is well-timed, but then again, the kind glamour and groove that makes Rabin’s clubs hits (Cherry, hi...

Next– the World!  The Linda Lindas Conquered L.A., then Coachella: If Coachella 2023’s lineup made a lot of music fans feel like they were out of touch in terms of what “the kids are listening to these days,” it also offered an easy way to discover precisely that via a user-friendly YouTube livestream of the festival. L.A.’s youthful viral sensations the Linda Lindas surely won over their share of new fans, young and old, last month.During their broadcasted Saturday, April 15 set, they encountered persistent sound problems (the mics repeatedly went out). But the technical difficulties led the girls – guitarist Bela Salazar (18), bassist Eloise Wong (15), guitarist Lucia de la Garza (16) and drummer Mila de la Garza (12) — to make the show an interactive exchange with fans that was inspiring and exh...
