A Florida judge has set an initial Aug. 14 trial date for former President Trump in the Justice Department’s (DOJ) case over his retention of classified documents.Judge Aileen Cannon set the preliminary trial date for roughly two months after Trump’s arraignment at her courtroom in Fort Pierce, Fla. The judge said in a Tuesday filing that all pre-trial motions must be filed by July 24.Trump and his team are expected to push to delay the trial through those motions, however, making it unlikely that the Aug. 14 date will hold.Trump pleaded not guilty last Tuesday to charges on 37 counts following a DOJ indictment alleging he violated both the Espionage Act and obstructed justice in taking classified records from his presidency and refusing to return them. Free summer meals for Chicago Public Schools students

CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is launching its summer meals program Tuesday.Summer Meals and LunchStop will run at hundreds of school locations throughout CPS, including at all summer school programs, according to a press release from CPS. Meals will first be available June 20 at outdoor LunchStop locations with summer program site meals launching on June 26. Three teens among more than 60 shot across Chicago over weekend Students who participate in summer school programs, or who live in an area served by a summer program or LunchStop location, can receive the free meals. 2 men, 2 women killed in New York City e-bike shop fire: officials

NEW YORK (WPIX) -- Four people are dead and several injured after a fire broke out in a New York City bike shop early Tuesday, authorities said. The blaze began around 12:15 a.m. inside the bike repair store on Manhattan's Lower East Side, officials said. Within 30 minutes, the fire escalated to a third alarm as billows of smoke enveloped the six-story building."We found heavy fire in an e-bike store, which is located on the first floor. We made an interior attack and put that fire out. Unfortunately, we had heavy smoke conditions throughout the building," said FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief John Sarrocco. 3 women slashed by assailant within 20 minutes in NYC subway: police Two of the victims who died were men and two were women, according to officials. ST. LOUIS - Regulating short-term rentals is one way the St. Louis City plans to tackle crime.The discussion on short-term rentals comes after another weekend of violence in downtown St. Louis. The first bill would change the application and appeals processes. The second bill will impact how short-term rental properties are being used.The bills will go before the St. Louis board of alderman at Tuesday morning's transportation and commerce committee meeting. Short-term rental parties have been a big problem over the last year or so.Many city leaders say there needs to be more rules to prevent parties from turning violent. I-70 WB lanes reopened, 2-vehicle crash being investigated

ST. LOUIS - Emergency crews were at the scene of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning. The crash took place on Interstate 70 westbound at the Missouri River and Blanchette Bridge a little before 7:00 a.m. Heavy backups could be seen in the area as a car and semi-truck were heavily damaged. Denver weather: Dry, warm day under mostly sunny skies

The weather in metro Denver on Tuesday will be warm and dry under mostly sunny skies and no rain will fall, according to the National Weather Service.Those conditions favor the buildup of air pollution and, for the second day in a row, state health officials issued an air quality alert, warning that the concentrations of ground-level ozone likely will reach levels unhealthy for children, the elderly, and people with breathing problems.The high temperature in Denver on Tuesday will be 89 degrees, slightly above the seasonal norm, decreasing to 87 degrees on Wednesday, weather service forecasters said. At night, the temperatures will decrease to around 57 degrees. Light wind likely will blow across the city at speeds up to 11 miles per hour, with a few gusts at speeds up to 18 mph, forecasters said.On Wednesday, scattered afternoon thunderstorms may roll down from mountain foothills across Denver. Man on Venice rooftop throws pieces of wood at firefighters

A man who climbed onto a rooftop in Venice began throwing pieces of wood at first responders late Monday night.The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Main Street.A man is seen throwing wood from a rooftop in Venice on June 19, 2023. (OnScene.TV)A man being followed by police after allegedly standing on top of a Metro bus eventually climbed on top of a building that was under construction in the area. Video from the scene showed the shirtless man grabbing onto loose wires and walking around on the roof. At one point the man was picking up large pieces of wood and throwing them in the direction of Los Angeles County firefighters who were at the scene. Firefighters and police left the scene after about 90 minutes. No one was injured in the incident and It was unclear if the man was taken into custody.
