Teens help clean up mess left by Carson tornado

More than 20 teens and young adults took to the streets of Carson Saturday evening to help clean up some of the debris and damage left in the wake of a pair of rare tornados that touched down earlier this month.The cleanup event was organized by Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light, an international peace nonprofit organization.The volunteers picked up trash and other debris that was scattered around the community in hopes of keeping the city clean and making a positive impact on the local community.The cleanup took place between Avalon Boulevard and East Walnut Avenue in Carson.Teens and young adults cleaned up some of the trash and debris caused by a rare L.A. area tornado in Carson on May 13, 2023. The Belmont Police Department is trying to identify a man found on the 2600 block of Montserat Avenue on Sunday, and seeking the public’s help to reunite him with his family.The man may suffer from memory loss and only speaks Cantonese, authorities said. He was wearing a red and white flannel shirt, a yellow hat, and a green sweatshirt when he was found, according to a photo posted by the Belmont Police Department.Anyone who may recognize this man is encouraged to contact the police at 650-595-7400.BPD is trying to identify this man & reunite him with his family. A popular grocery store is saying sorry after one employee in Central Florida refused to write the word “trans” on a cake.Yasmin Flasterstein, the co-founder and executive director of the Orlando-based nonprofit Peer Support Space, said she was flabbergasted by what the employee at a Publix supermarket in Orlando claimed was a company policy.
