SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A South Dakota mother says she was asked to get out of the water after being told she couldn't breastfeed her baby at a Sioux Falls city pool earlier this month. In response, the city is stepping up training to make sure it doesn't happen again."This is the natural way so it shouldn't be sexualized in the way that it is," Abigail Gukeisen said.Gukeisen was in the lazy river at Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center on August 9 when she says she was approached by employees who told her she is not allowed to breastfeed her baby inside the pool."Lactating mothers will know. CHICAGO -- Chick-fil-A has opened their scholarship program awards for the 2024-2025 school year.The fast-food chain has returned with their 51st year of scholarship awards to support education in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. Pritzker vetoes attempt to lift ban on new nuclear energy

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — For nearly 40 years, Illinois has had a moratorium on building new nuclear power plants in the state. It looked like the state would lift the ban.Lawmakers sent a bipartisan measure to the governor's desk to do just that, but Governor J.B. Pritzker vetoed it."The governor's veto of my bill was a complete shock to everyone involved," said Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris). "This was a heavily negotiated bill. 5 people bitten by dogs in Manor

Editor's Note: The video above shows KXAN Live's top headlines for Aug. 17, 2023AUSTIN (KXAN) — Five people were bitten by dogs in Manor Thursday morning, one of whom had to go to the hospital, according to Austin Travis County EMS and the Manor Police Department."Some first responders have been unable to exit vehicles due to threats by dogs," ATCEMS tweeted at 9:15 a.m.It said the "group of dogs" were in the area of Arbor Hill Cove between Sugar Bush Path and Bullhorn Acacia pass. ATCEMS sent three ambulances to respond and took one adult to St. David's Round Rock. It said a number of other first responders headed to the area as well.

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Two individuals were taken into custody on Tuesday after a resident on Walker Ave reported seeing a heavily damaged truck with a male sleeping inside. According to the North Greenbush Police Department, responding officers located the vehicle and identified the male as Dale Sousie. Officers located a utility trailer nearby that was found to have been stolen from a sales lot in Brunswick. Police also located stolen rims valued at over $1,000, reported stolen from a business in Troy. ST. LOUIS - Prior to stepping down as St. Louis Circuit Attorney, one of Kim Gardner's last actions was filing a motion to vacate the 1991 murder conviction of Christopher Dunn. Several months after Gardner's resignation, the effort to vacate Dunn's conviction is one that new circuit attorney Gabe Gore is following closely. In a recent one-on-one interview with the Missouri Independent, Gore said a review of the case is ongoing and is of "high priority" to his office. The one street where every home is cited, no matter what condition Dunn has spent 33 years in prison for the 1990 shooting death of Ricco Rogers over a gang affiliation. His initial sentence was life behind bars plus 90 years.
