(The Hill) - A U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) official said there is a possibility that Salt Lake City will land another Winter Olympic Games in the near future.During a press briefing on Monday, USOPC chairman Gene Sykes told reporters that Salt Lake City organizers continue to meet the prospect and process of hosting the winter games in the city.He also noted that Utah state officials and most residents are all on board with the games returning to their city. “The Salt Lake City team continues to share the story of sport culture in Salt Lake City and across the state. Couple celebrating 50th anniversary, family member stabbed to death in Massachusetts home

NEWTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and a family member were fatally stabbed in a Massachusetts home Sunday in what authorities believe was a random attack. Police worry that the killer or killers may be still at large. Newton police were called to a home around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. Police said they were initially called after the couple failed to arrive at church earlier in the morning.Officers found three people who had been stabbed and beaten to death inside the home. The DA's office added there were signs of forced entry into the home.While the victims have not yet been identified, the DA's office said the third victim was the mother of one of the other victims. A Forest Lake man was charged with murder Monday in connection with the hit-and-run killing of a 51-year-old St. Paul woman last week at a Wyoming gas station.Mark Andrew Wiosky, 37, was charged with murder in the third degree and criminal vehicular homicide, according to the Chisago County Attorney’s office. NY forest rangers return from fighting Canadian forest fires

To help fight those raging fires, New York recently sent a group of forest rangers over the border.The crew of seven spent 14 days in Quebec fighting fires that burned about 58,000 acres of land. A ranger from Warren County, who served as a crew boss in Nova Scotia, said that even though the fires continue, they made a big impact."We're feeling really good for the people here," New York Forest Ranger Art Perryman said. And we're leaving on a good note, feeling really good about that."The first wildfire in Canada this year started in April. Since then, more than 2,600 fires have burned an estimated 13 million acres.

Aurora police release additional footage related to fatal shooting of Jor’Dell Richardson

Aurora police on Monday released five additional videos of the events leading up to the shooting of 14-year-old Jor’Dell Richardson earlier this month.The videos, all of which are less than three minutes, show various angles of the teens fleeing what police called suspicious activity at an Aurora strip mall. One video, taken from the alley, shows officers chasing Richardson and taking him to the ground. The video, though, is blurry during the time in which Officer Roch Gruszeczka shot and killed the teen. Another video does not show any of the teens or officers, but a gunshot can be heard.Richardson’s family had called for Aurora to release all videos of the incident.
