WASHINGTON (AP) — Jarett Hunter ran for 108 yards and a touchdown and Quinton Williams scored on a 34-yard keeper as Howard beat Beltway rival Morgan State 14-7 Saturday to claim the outright Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship and its first bid to the Cricket Celebration Bowl.The Bison (6-5, 4-1) won four of their final five games to close out the regular season.Howard drove 81 yards in 12 plays on its opening drive, with Hunter dashing in from the 8 to take a 7-0 lead that held until halftime. Police discovered the bodies of a 72-year-old man and an 77-year-old woman in a home in Rehoboth Friday morning.Local police received a call shortly before 11 a.m. requesting a well-being check at 162 Summer St. in Rehoboth. When police arrived, they found the bodies of Omar Bradley, 72, who lived in the home, and Barbara J. Cruz, 77, of Tiverton, R.I.Also at the home was another, uninjured resident of the home, an 84-year-old woman who was Cruz’ sister.The initial investigation suggests that Bradley, who lived in the home with the uninjured woman, shot and killed Cruz before then turning the gun on himself, according to a statement from the Bristol District Attorney’s office.

A 28-year-old Toronto man is facing several charges in connection with what police described as hate-motivated assaults outside a downtown mosque and at two other downtown locations.According to a statement issued by Toronto police investigators Saturday evening, officers were called to the Toronto Islamic Centre (TIC) near Yonge Street and Davenport Road at around 6:40 a.m.The statement said the suspect went to outside the front of the mosque and “became confrontational towards several victims.” It said the accused yelled derogatory slurs at those outside and threw a rock.
