Doctor says Davis stabbings suspect not mentally competent to stand trial

(KTXL) — A court-appointed doctor has determined that the suspect in three stabbings in Davis is not mentally competent to stand trial, but a jury will determine if the criminal case proceeds, a judge ruled Tuesday morning. Carlos Reales Dominguez, 21, is accused of three attacks over April and May that killed two men and injured one woman. After his arrest, the judge suspended criminal proceedings against him in order for a medical evaluation to take place. After Tuesday's hearing, the judge ordered a jury trial in July that will determine Dominguez's competency. Suspect arrested in Pier 39 shooting identified If he is found competent, the criminal case against him will move forward. Reales Dominguez faces two charges of murder and one count of attempted murder, with a special circumstance for committing multiple murders. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. San Francisco Fire Department receives K9 program grant

(KRON) -- The San Francisco Fire Department recently received a special nationwide grant to help support K9s in their unit. For 11 years, Aftermath services has awarded thousands of dollars to law enforcement and first responder agencies across the country, helping run and maintain K9 units. (KTXL) — California's record snowfall in winter has been melting and has created a dramatic change in Lake Oroville, filling the reservoir that was recently known for being one of the most affected during the state's drought.The lake is California’s second-largest reservoir, and the record snowmelt has pushed the lake to its capacity. A photo from June 2021 shows Lake Oroville at about 38% capacity. In mid-June of 2023, Lake Oroville hit 100% capacity. An NCAA infractions panel has imposed a three-game suspension on Memphis coach Penny Hardaway for recruiting violations tied to two in-home visits with a prospect two years ago.The panel issued its ruling Wednesday, which follows a negotiated resolution in December that allowed the school to resolve the case and begin probation while one individual challenged the allegations.That turned out to be Hardaway, who was charged under the rules governing head-coach responsibility for conduct within their programs.An assistant coach first visited the prospect in September 2021 at his home, followed by Hardaway roughly two weeks later.
